The EMMA conference in Foshan/China on November 4th gave a professional platform to exchange ideas and experiences and to discover the opportunity to bring EMMA’s activities in Asia to a higher level. After the successful EMMA Asia Finals in 2012 and 2013 it is now time to prepare the ground for a further growth. Therefore most Asian EMMA affiliates and a group of international EMMA sponsors came together to discuss how to realize further growth. As a result a plan for the next two years has been finalized. The main issues that have been agreed are:
- To establish a person in charge for all Asian EMMA issues: Somkiat Pookayaporn was nominated as official representative. Somkiat will start to build up a continuous communication between the EMMA head office and the EMMA affiliates and collect all necessary and relevant information. Furthermore he will organize all international events, such as the Asian Finals, all Judge Seminars and the trainings. He is also the person to keep in touch with and to report all national activities in Asia.
- For the work of Somkiat a fund will be generated to cover his expenses. The money will be taken out of the global sponsorship revenues and of the operative income on events, advertisement etc in Asia.
- EMMA Asia ltd Company will be closed and all responsibility for cash flow, sponsors etc will be transferred to the EMMA head office
- Terence Nah is nominated to manage the communication between all affiliates in Asia. Terence will support all associations in their visibility on internet, facebook, twitter, press etc. It was also agreed that every EMMA affiliation is requested to set up and maintain their own national homepage from the year 2014 and to publish their activities there. Terence will support all and requested information in regular terms. All who are interested in using the common wordpress system which EMMA intl. and some affiliates are already using please contact Alex Klett. EMMA has its own server structure so a setup of homepages is simple and cost effective.
- The preparation for the 20104 EMMA Asia finals are expected to be ready in March and will be finally discussed on the next EMMA Asia conference in Salzburg
- From 2014 the classification for competitions must be adapted to those in the official international rulebook. All other categories and classes will not have any further status and cannot be used under the EMMA Label. The ESQL will be extended to one Advanced and one Master class on a global scale. For Asia Advanced will be divided into Advanced T2W, Advanced T4W and Advanced unl. So in total there will be 4 intl. ESQL Categories for the future in Asia.
The next EMMA Asia conference will take place in March 2014 in Salzburg/Austria. Detailed dates will be announced in advance.
