EMMA Singapore Judge Training 2014

The field of mobile media might be a niche area of interest to most of us. But for those passionate about the in car entertainment scene, they would be highly interested to learn about the technicalities behind mobile media setups.

EMMA Singapore recently arranged a two-day judge-training course for audiophiles eager to be educated about how in-car entertainment vehicles are judged. Held on the 23rd and 24th of April at the Mahajak SKM HQ, part of the training involved a theory lesson to get a lowdown of revised EMMA rules and regulations, as well as to familiarise themselves with the 2014 EMMA CD used for judging purposes.

The seminar was headed by EMMA’s head judges, Terence Nah and Prapasakorn Bhucksasri. As part of the training session, participants were given hands-on assignments to learn more about technical bits and installation criteria with the assistance of Eddie Tan and Daryl Ong. A couple of decked-out cars with qualified judges were on hand to teach aspiring judges to judge in various categories of sound quality. There was even a dedicated “Listening Room”, equipped with high-end audio devices for participants to practice the art of judging tonal accuracy. Interestingly, there was a segment dedicated to judge a new category called “EMMA Racing”, primarily inspired by the main EMMA body.

Audiophiles can now partake in an activity that places emphasis on the type and quality of non-audio related modifications on their cars, which should add more drama to an event already swarmed with audio-boosted vehicles. Despite the success garnered over the years in the local mobile media industry, it seems like EMMA Singapore is not resting it’s laurels, increasing and diversifying it’s reach to rope in more audiophiles.
