After Ground Zero launched the Reference Speaker Line back in 2009, the series and its components became highly known to the High End market and Sound Quality Enthusiast around the world. These Components did win multiple tests; the 2-Way Speaker System has even been awarded the “Best IN-CAR HIGH END” System in 2012 by European EISA organization.
But Ground Zero is not resting based on previous success but working continuously on improvements and new developments to make “great things even better”. For the Reference Line, one of such step was the 80mm Mid Range Driver, launched in the 2nd half 2014, the “GZPM Reference 80”. (mercyhealthplex.com) And now, it is time to introduce the enhanced 180mm Mid Bass Driver, the GZMW Reference 180!
“The improvements are in the details” says Michael Feld, Head of Product at Ground Zero, when he speaks about the brand new Reference speaker 100% engineered by GZ. He points out the massive handmade aluminum basket and the extremely linear and detailed performance across the full bandwidth of the frequency range. “That will be setting a new standard for In-Car High End”, Michael is adding.
And in fact looking at further details of the innovative driver, it was designed with a brand new special flat shape rubber surround and an updated High-End cone coating, which allows a better performance from 40 to 3500Hz. By adding an improved high quality connex spider, the new GZMW Reference 180 plays even with a faster response and with an amended precision in lower frequencies, compared to its predecessor. The re-designed motor structure and the position of the high wounded 25 mm / 1” copper voice coil provide not only more efficiency, but also an incredible linear and almost distortion-free performance.
Besides all these optimizations and upgrades, the GZMW Reference 180 was engineered in the same outer dimensions as the older versions, which enables easiest replacement.
