GZ Reference High End

2014_0005_GZ_News_REFERENCE2014_3For GZ Reference High End, only the best is good enough!
Ground Zero Reference line with new components including the hoped-for Reference Subwoofer

Since 2008 Ground Zero introduced the Reference Line, all components are highly known and awarded for delivering High End Sound Quality to enthusiasts around the world. Over the years, the line was expanded after extraordinary evaluation and developments in both, speakers and amplifiers. Certainly a highlight are the compact Reference XS amplifiers, another outstanding Reference product is the Reference Tube Amplifier which has been awarded by the EISA association as the “Best In-Car High-End Component 2013/2014”.

The only Reference component really missing, has been the an adequate GZ Reference Subwoofer which most of the Reference customers have been waiting for years. “A good thing takes it´s time and haste brings waste”, was the comment of Michael Feld, Product Manager in GZ, when he was asked again and again for that specific product.

But finally after not less than three years engineering and development, GZ is proud to announce the “GZPW Reference 250” coming to the market in May this year. This “Handmade in Germany“ woofer comes with a lot of high tech features and solutions, such as several linearization parts added to the magnet system in order to optimize the impedance and eliminate distortions. Absolutely outstanding is also the cone, made of an extremely lightweight and stiff 3-layer sandwich with two outer layers of paper and special 2-component foam, pressed together. The 50 mm (2”) copper voice coil with 35 mm (1.38”) winding height in combination with the polyester/cotton Bimax® spider and the loss-free rubber surround allow a perfectly linear excursion of +/- 15 mm (0.6”). Beyond all that, the new GZPW Sub is optimized to perform in smallest possible enclosures.

2014_0005_GZ_News_REFERENCE2014_1During the same period in 2014 spring, GZ will fulfil one more wish of the Reference High-End fans: With the unique GZPM Reference 80, a totally new Mid Range Driver will be launched with far smaller outer dimensions than his predecessor and equal and partly better performance. The Handmade basket matches perfectly to the 180mm Mid-woofers but besides design and installation advantages, the new Reference Mid Range comes with new technical features as well. It´s front and spider mounting plates are made of massive black anodized machined aluminium, the matt coated pressed paper cone in combination with the special linearized rubber surround allows a wide range performance from 100 to 6000Hz. Not to forget that same as all the other Reference speakers are matched in pairs and optimised by the company-owned Klippel system.
