EMMA Asia Finals Memorable Experiences – Some words of Eventdirector Somkiat Pookayaporn

somkiatEMMA 2014 Asia Final has finally ended and all judges have arrived home safely. As an Event Director on behalf of EMMA, I would like to thank all judges from both Europe and Asia countries, especially Ms. Ramona for taking back office and general organization responsibilities for us.

In addition, I want to thank the Sponsors of the 2014 EMMA Asia Finals, which made this event possible: Our Main sponsor Ground Zero and the sponsors Brax, Helix, Match, Bewith, Crescendo, German Maestro, Gladen, Mosconi, Harmotech, Mercury & Tchernov Cable. Without them, this project would have never been possible.

Since the beginning in 2011 when the Asia finals started with only three countries & four venues – Jakarta Indonesia, Manila and Dumaguete of the Philippines and the final stage in Singapore, European judges encounter “Culture Shock” to our ways of lives in Asia. As time passes by, we started bonded as close friends.

All our Asian judges and of course our national Associations tried to be a good host when we arrived in their countries. Everyone felt warm knowing we will be in good hands. Judges health is always important, every judge need to judge the same categories and classes in every countries. There was only one judge with some problems along the way, but our friend from China took care of him. So on this way also a big thanks to our national partners Mr. Harry & Mr. Masa Omae from Japan, Mickey Tang and Ms. Hazel from Philippines, Peter Chang from China, David Chen from Taiwan, Terence Nah from Singapore, Ibnu Haldun and Ms. Novia and Ms. Dawi from Indoesia for taking care about us.

We started in Japan with 8-12 degree moving to Philippines with 34+ then China at 21 degree and Taiwan about 16 then we went down to Singapore for 34+ . When we got to Jakarta, it was much hotter and more humid. Finally we arrive in our final stage, Bangkok Thailand it was not much cooler than Jakarta. However, by that time we all kind of used to it.

Diversities of Climate change and culture change were difficult for some at the beginning but everyone adapted to every environment because we are EMMA Judges!
I hope judges from both European & Asia countries who went through this series of events traveling to seven different countries and judging cars from eight countries will share this experience in Asia. I hope you will write an article in whatever media reach your friends and EMMA people in your country what you saw how you felt or even what you eat 🙂

Because after all EMMA is about sharing!
