Pioneer launch high-end iPhone 5 compatible in-dash navigation systems

Pioneer unveils three new in-dash navigation systems for 2013 that offer advanced route guidance, multimedia entertainment and smartphone connectivity functions.

The new AVIC-F50BT, AVIC-F950DAB and AVIC-F950BT include iPhone 5 compatibility as well as high resolution WVGA touch screen displays ranging from 6.1 to 7-inches, a new mapping interface with real-time traffic information, a new graphical user interface (GUI), AppRadio Mode, built-in Bluetooth functionality, USB connectivity, DAB technology (AVIC-F950DAB only), DVD/CD/MP3 playback, and more.

Smartphone connectivity

The flagship navigation units now include enhanced connectivity with the iPhone 5 via the optional CD-IH202 kit (£39.99 suggested retail price) and two accessories from Apple, the Lightning to USB cable and Lightning Digital AV adapter.

AppRadio mode enables user to operate compatible apps from an iPhone 5/4S/4 on the screen of the unit itself. This gives users access to over 50 AppRadio mode-compatible apps that work across iOS and Android devices. Whether for navigation, music or even the internet, AppRadio mode offers a unique opportunity to bring smartphone apps and technology into the dashboard of the vehicle. TMC tuner

The AVIC-F50BT, AVIC-F950DAB and AVIC-F950BT enable users to see the latest traffic conditions with a built-in RDS-TMC traffic tuner. The systems utilise INRIX to provide an overlay of real-time traffic events and conditions on the navigation map and allow users to create routes to minimise traffic delays.

DAB technology (AVIC-F950DAB)

The AVIC-F950DAB incorporates a DAB radio tuner to provide high-quality digital sound through improved signal reception and easy programme selection. Song information such as the artist and title can be viewed on the unit’s touchscreen display.

Bluetooth connectivity

Bluetooth¹ connectivity is built-in to provide a wireless communication and data connection to Bluetooth enabled devices. Bluetooth functions include wireless calling and receiving; wireless audio streaming; wireless control of devices and related metadata (if available) to be viewed directly on the touchscreen display; streaming and control of internet radio from Android smartphones.

AVIC-F50BT/AVIC-F950BT/AVIC-F950DAB

In addition to a comprehensive map database from NAVTEQ, the new navigation models feature 8GB of built-in flash memory for fast access of mapping information; a large 7-inch touch screen (6.1-inch for AVIC-F950DAB and AVIC-F950BT); HDMI/Component video input for smartphone connection; DVD playback; Dual Zone capability for independent rear seat audio/video playback; USB connectivity² for playback of audio/video media stored on a flash drive, hard drive, media player and/or smartphone; SD card slot (micro SD for AVIC‑F950DAB and AVIC-F950BT); back-up camera input (includes parking graphic guidelines), built-in DAB tuner (AVIC-F950DAB) and a semi-detachable face (AVIC-F950DAB and AVIC-F950BT).
