Brand new 12” SPL Subwoofer in the Iridium line
Since two decades, Ground Zero is setting standards for SPL subwoofers in different product lines and on a wide price range. With the recent lounge of the Radioactive SPL subs, new records could be set on an even more affordable level. But this summer, there is one more to come: The brand new Iridium SPL Woofer!
The product design of this new “GZIW 12SPL” is totally new. Compared to the regular Iridium woofers, the only thing in common is actually the ventilated and strong steel basket. All the rest of the components, its motor and soft parts are made to perform REAL! SPL. And so, the Iridium SPL 12 inch comes with a high power 2 x 2 Ohm 63 mm / 2.5” voice coil and it’s using a 30 mm high winded copper wire on aluminum former for perfect heat absorbing.
Together with the 8 mm / 0.315” steel top plate of the linearized and KLIPPEL-optimized doublemagnet motor it can realize an effective Xmax of 35 mm / 1.38”. Exclusively tooled for the GZIW 12SPL, a high-roll multilayer V-Shape surround and the highspeed spider made of 1 layer Polycot and 1 layer Connex material helps to handle extremely high peak power attacks of 1000 Watt and even more quite easily. The stable convex 3D IMPP dust cap with embossed 2-color Ground Zero logo is adapted to the reinforced non-pressed paper cone, which is weight-optimized for higher efficiency and stitched to the surround with yellow thread.
Additionally GZ will offer this 12 inch woofer in single, and double equipped vented enclosures. These high quality MDF enclosures will feature high efficient front-bass-tunnel, yellow painted protection steel bars and high quality bi-amping terminals.
The single GZIB 3000SPL with 45 liter / 1.77 cu. ft. inner volume is tuned to 42 Hz and performs down to 34Hz. Same as the 82 liter / 2.895 cu. ft. double-box GZIB 2.3000SPL which allows manifold wiring possibilities with its 4 x 2 Ohm. GZIW 12SPL and GZIB 3000SPL will be available in July and GZIB 2.3000SPL in August /September.
